Awesome Hawaiian Musician

I have very eclectic taste in music. I have and listen to everything from country to neo-soul to pop to new age. (I am also a secret fan of new age music, but I usually try to keep that to myself :) However, I have a particular soft spot for world music.

Some years ago, I discovered Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, a wonderfully gifted Hawaiian musician. You will instantly recognize his voice if you play the Youtoube video below. His voice is melodic, soulful and soothing. I discovered Israel shortly after reading James Michener's Hawaii and his sweetly sad voice brought home the pain of losing the Hawaiian culture and a people who have been somewhat lost to time.

Sadly Israel died in 1997, but the sweetness of his voice lives on.
